Using social media to cut through Christmas chaos.

This time of year is all about tradition. Pulling out your heirloom ornaments and tree. Making batch after batch of your mom's beloved Christmas cookies or your grandmother's famous potato peirogis.

And let's not forget the traditional poring over your to-do list or standing in line at the post office. The menu-making and scheduling, the decorating, angsting about gift choices, and baking.

Attention LADIES - in need of your own Girls Night Out?

brogan

We just launched a great promotion for our friends at Entertainment Events, Inc.  It's the Girls Night: The Musical Contest

Girls Night: The Musical

Give a short explanation WHY you DESERVE a Girls Night out - and you could be on your way to see Girls Night: The Musical with 3 of your friends.  Plus - backstage passes to meet the cast and a little pre-show primping:  manicures and pedicures at Planet Beach Spa in Novi.  But there's more - dinner for four at Volt in The Renaissance Center Marriott, an overnight stay at The Renaissance Center Marriott and limo transportation to and from the event compliments of Entertainment Express.

This smash off-Broadway hit is coming to The Macomb Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, April 15th.  It promises to have you laughing, crying, dancing in your seats, and even in the aisles.  With classic tunes such as: "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," "I Will Survive," and "We are Family."

Purchase your tickets today at the Macomb Center box office - or click the link right on the Facebook Promotions page.  And don't forget to become a Fan on Facebook!  Since we at Brogan & Partners aren't eligible to win - we'll be buying our own tickets.  Hope to see you all there!

“The Hut” – hit or miss?

Hot out of the oven, Pizza Hut – one of America's favorite pizza companies - is announcing a new name: "The Hut." In an effort to attract a younger consumer, Pizza Hut is rolling out the rebranding campaign in select markets across the US.

A killer way to fight cancer.

Let’s face it.  Cancer.  It’s a bully.  We all hate it. You can fight it, but it never just… goes away.

Every day, advertising agencies are faced with the challenge of motivating and inspiring consumers.  To buy something. To feel something. To do something.

There are thousands of messages each day, but the ones that stick in people’s minds seem to be the ones that have a strong emotional connection.  I was recently touched by this video and wanted to share my experience.

It gave me the chills and sent tears to my eyes.  Does it emotionally connect with you?

According to T-Mobile: life's for sharing.

I'm a huge fan of a recent T-Mobile advertising adventure.  At 11 am on January 15th, 2009, after 8 weeks of practice and one late night at the train station in Liverpool, hidden cameras captured 400 dancers and T-Mobile's plan to create a great commercial unfolded.

Capturing the attention of a live audience - and creating an emotional connection with the viewer at home... go ahead - just try not to smile!

What's your friendship worth?

brogan

I admit it – I’m not the most popular.  I don’t have any Facebook bumper stickers.  I’ve only received 1 gift in my lifetime.  I thought 366 friends was a respectable number… oh wait, 367 (thanks Meagan!).   But I think I’ve got something going for me... I haven’t been sacrificed for a flame-broiled sandwich!

Leave it to the creative geniuses at Crispin Porter + Bogusky to come up with another great advertising story for Burger King.  They’ve utilized a social networking tool – but dared to be different.  Instead of asking you to join a group or find new friends... the Whopper Sacrifice application allows you to trade in 10 of your Facebook friends for a free Whopper.   Not only that – once you’ve made the sacrifice, everybody knows about it!  “John sacrificed Jane for a free WHOPPER.”

Not only is the idea outrageously entertaining.  It’s got everybody talking (and generating a ton of free press for BK). According to www.whoppersacrifice.com - over 231,872 friends have been sacrificed (with my help).

So, I’m sorry Maria, Scott, Misi, Melissa, Dave, Vong, Micci, Ennis, Katrina and Laurie – for the sake of a great idea, I hope you can forgive me!  I’m getting a free lunch.
